Indian Law does not protect women?

Indian Law does not protect women?

A total of 228,650 incidents of crime against women in India in 2011 increased from 213 585 in the previous year.

Does violence against women in India or Indian women occur from birth to the grave? Firstly because the gender inequality is mainly characterized by the concept of social barriers and taboos. Not only dowry problem has become a major issue in India, but the birth of a girl gives also a deep pain for parents, some even tried to kill the girls who have not been born. In general, the attention to boys better than girls.

Since women in India are still vulnerable to sexual abuse, domestic violence, discrimination and crimes in the name of honor, India does need “upgraded sex crime laws” which are capable of protecting women or gender disparities -indeed! India moreover needs tight legislation that includes the death penalty if the victim dies as well as expands the definition of sex crimes. For example, rape in marriage and/or punishment for assault with acid should be also strictly regulated in the Law.

Besides that women need to be empowered at all levels. They need knowledge and awareness so that they can express their voice. In rural areas, lack of education and economic resources, poverty and inadequate health facilities are leading to infanticide
of female baby.

But the approach is entirely paradoxical as India is considered one of the originators of gender equality: It has had a woman prime minister. But still we have to admit that sometimes Indian women do not have freedom, since they have limits in almost every way. And one thing for sure, women in India still face many challenges in their own country as long as types of female infanticide remains a threat.

For all that has happened, is it safe to say that India is most violent country for women?
