Indian Law does not protect women?

Indian Law does not protect women?

A total of 228,650 incidents of crime against women in India in 2011 increased from 213 585 in the previous year.

Does violence against women in India or Indian women occur from birth to the grave? Firstly because the gender inequality is mainly characterized by the concept of social barriers and taboos. Not only dowry problem has become a major issue in India, but the birth of a girl gives also a deep pain for parents, some even tried to kill the girls who have not been born. In general, the attention to boys better than girls.

Since women in India are still vulnerable to sexual abuse, domestic violence, discrimination and crimes in the name of honor, India does need “upgraded sex crime laws” which are capable of protecting women or gender disparities -indeed! India moreover needs tight legislation that includes the death penalty if the victim dies as well as expands the definition of sex crimes. For example, rape in marriage and/or punishment for assault with acid should be also strictly regulated in the Law.

Besides that women need to be empowered at all levels. They need knowledge and awareness so that they can express their voice. In rural areas, lack of education and economic resources, poverty and inadequate health facilities are leading to infanticide
of female baby.

But the approach is entirely paradoxical as India is considered one of the originators of gender equality: It has had a woman prime minister. But still we have to admit that sometimes Indian women do not have freedom, since they have limits in almost every way. And one thing for sure, women in India still face many challenges in their own country as long as types of female infanticide remains a threat.

For all that has happened, is it safe to say that India is most violent country for women?

Chinas Role in Africa

Chinas Role in Africa

   Written by Gombi Shiro

Africa is regarded as a continent of opportunity. Some regard it as a risky investment while  others have realized the rewards of it. China has certainly realized the rewards of it and has become an assertive and important Investor in Africa.

Chinas interest in Africa has also become a big debate. Western countries see Chinese involvement in the continent as Neocolonialism. African countries on the contrary see their motive actually as quite pure. Evidence has shown that the Africans themselves do not feel exploited. A 2007 Pew Research Center survey of 10 sub-Saharan African countries found that Africans overwhelmingly viewed Chinese economic growth as beneficial. In virtually all countries surveyed, China’s involvement was viewed in a much more positive light than America’s; in Senegal, 86 percent said China’s role in their country helped make things better, compared with 56 percent who felt that way about America’s role. In Kenya, 91 percent of respondents said they believed China’s influence was positive, versus only 74 percent for the United States Suspicion has risen that Chinese interest is their own long term economic development in terms of easy and cheap access to raw material and export opportunities.

Their interest in the natural resources in the richly endowed countries is seen as a mechanism to feed their exponential hunger for the resources in order to fuel its rapidly expanding economy.  Africa is also politically useful to China in terms of voting when it comes to the UN General Assembly and global summits such as the climate change conferences with almost 52 African representing countries this builds alliances which could be helpful in the future to row over Taiwan. In order to get Chinese aid, conditions are also given; the African countries must concede the large numbers of Chinese experts and workers as part of their investment package. This is seen by others as a quest to dump its surplus population into the continent.

Each country has its own interest at heart. Africa should have a strategy for China and should try and look at ways to leverage its relations in order to gain more and a clear policy framework for their engagement is need. China is in Africa to do business, to provide what Africa wants in exchange for what China wants it is a give and take situation. China may help Africa to a certain point, but only if Africans can help themselves in the long run. Whether the China African Relation is ultimately beneficial to Africa cannot be said for certain. In the short run we believe that it is mutually beneficial but in the long run Africa will be the losing one. At the end of the day it will be up to Africa, not China, to determine the answer to that question.

Shall we eat Turkey for Thanksgiving or for Taksim Park in Istanbul?

Shall we eat Turkey for Thanksgiving or for Taksim Park in Istanbul.

Should the governance model in Turkey be a successful example of political Islam in a country?

Written by Trio Wisudhanto

Turkey has long emulated as a model of democracy in Islamic countries. Apparently massive protest that occurred months ago in Turkey against the prime minister (*as the leader of a democratic outcome) turned increasing attention among Islamic rulers in the middle east. Moreover Turkey has been hit by a wave of protests, triggered by a police crackdown on peaceful protest related to environmental issues related in a park near Taksim field. Consequently, at that provocation, it has turned into a protest demonstration against the Erdogan's government dissatisfaction.

It all began with protests and demonstrations against the development of the plan back in Istanbul some time ago; Government's plan to build a city like the Ottoman era: tidying stores, houses and apartments in Istanbul square is part of a plan to Islamize Turkey, commented the protesters.

Protests and demonstrations that Erdogan needs to face have raised concerns among Islamic rulers in the Arab Spring countries, since Turkey had previously been praised as a good example of democracy in Islamic countries. In addition to it, the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood describes anti-Erdogan aims to undermine the project of Islamization in Turkey.

Being mighty for more than a decade, Erdogan party's vote share has increased in the last three elections.

Turkey has experienced rapid progress in the field of economics and its influence has increased dramatically in the Middle East and on a global scale. But many Turks, especially the secular, accuse Erdogan's increasingly authoritarian. He is also accused of silencing the media, tighting the party's grip on the country, putting religion (Islam) in the middle of political and violating the secular Turkish constitution.

Some deliberately want to make it seem that what is happening in Turkey is a revolution. Are they, the demonstrators redundant? And they furthermore have nothing to do with what happens on the pitch. Should Islamic leaders in Egypt and Tunisia be concerned about the problems faced by Erdogan in Turkey? As of yet, unanswered questions abound.

Fun m.o.m.e.n.t.s (day 2)

Day 2:

INTERCULTURAL PARTY

"Trang.. Trong.. Klon-tong!" Natalie danced, passing everybody with two big pans. Then the lights up and everybody felt excited about this session.

Not so long to wait until the performance from Indonesian. Trio read the preface about the history of "Dance Klono Topeng Suwandhono" and "Dance Klono Topeng Gunungsari". It was interesting because Albi, the dancer, was also wearing the traditional uniform.
ALBI from Indonesia, showing the traditional dance

In the meanwhile, Wen Peng from China provide us with "Tie Guan Yin" tee. That was so perfect to drink tea and watching the dance, wasn't it?!

Then came this video about Ivory Coast. After watching that video, it was cool to know that young people from this region really make a "slank-o-Franzlish" called "NOUCHI" to differentiate their intimacy between them, moreover when they live abroad.
"Alles klar!" You can say "Ya Foy!" or "Ya pasdraß!"

Those are not all, people! We still have an exercise from two Latinos Ladies. Everybody need to come down the floor! We danced FESTEJO. Hit the floor, people!
Helen and Maria-Louisa trained the upbeat traditional dance

Don't you know, people from Kenya make the beautiful accessories from horns. Sylvia, Ngombi, and Sharon show us the basic clothes of Maasaian people which called "maasai".

Cameroon is right in the middle of Africa, that's the reason it called "the miniature of Africa". Noel showed us the pictures of Cameroon's food, such as Macabo, Cassava, Yam, sweet potato, and Achu.
Achu from Cameroon

It was late at night, when Noel asked if everybody still have some energy to do dancing. So it was, once more, the floor been stepped by Benskin Dance. And so on, Bikutsi and Makossa Dance.

Before going to bed, we heard so many people need to go to toilet, so it forced us to remember that we had the perfect barbecue before. Thanks to Natalie!

Fun m.o.m.e.n.t.s (day 1) in Sommerschule: Vier Tage um die Welt

"You know person better at night!"
Maybe that the right statement for us for deciding to do some introductory games instead of getting to bed early. We were all night-owls on these dates, guys! Let me tell u then!

Day 1:

SPEEDDATING
These precious moments were held in the multifunction-room at CSP-AZK Villa. At 20.10 seemed too early for us to go to bed. Then, seventeen young and spiritful people come from around Nordrhein Westfalen, decided to form a double circle where everybody have their couple and waiting for any questions.

Remember the answer from Sharon about her dream-man! So guys, please you  need to be aware, if you want to be loved by ladies, you need to do the cleaning!
We, in the name of women in the world, really thanks to you Sharon for representing that criteria!

So people, do you think you still remember your own answers for:

  1. What will you do if you have one million euros in your hand , RIGHT NOW?
  2. Do you still remember the most damned-situation which you have experienced?
  3. What is your most important wish in your future?

Maybe you already forget about your own answers, but don't you afraid because your pair definitely might still have it in his mind.

Could you then mention the other questions?
